Daytona Beach Restaurants That You Have to Try
Floridaâs Atlantic Coast is lined with world-famous attractions and gorgeous cities located directly on the water. Naturally, itâs become a massively popular destination for both visitors and people looking to become permanent residents, especially Daytona Beach, otherwise known as the Worldâs Most Famous Beach. Youâll never get bored down here on Daytona Beach; this beautiful city has an extraordinarily high concentration of fun attractions for the whole family, including the world-famous Daytona International Speedway, home of the NASCAR Daytona 500. This coastal city also has the Daytona Boardwalk Amusements and the Daytona Lagoon water park, to mention a few. Such exhilarating experiences like those, however, are a surefire way to really work up an appetite, so itâs equally important to know where to find the best restaurants in Daytona Beach, too. Luckily for you, I went ahead and put together this comprehensive guide to all of my favorite places to eat near Daytona Beach so that youâll know exactly where to go, no matter what youâre in the mood for. Best Restaurants in Daytona Beach
The Oyster Pub555 Seabreeze Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32118 The Oyster Pub, a small corner sports bar with over 45 TVs and a long list of bar food favorites to munch on while you wet your whistle and watch the game. Oysters are their specialty, of course, but The Oyster Pub stole my heart with their mind-blowing chicken wings. They serve their wings 10 different ways, some of which include teriyaki, bourbon BBQ, and even an âInfernoâ option for the brave. Check out The Oyster Pub on the corner of Seabreeze Boulevard and North Grandview Avenue, within walking distance to the beach and The Plaza Resort and Spa waterfront hotel. Caribbean Jackâs721 Ballough Rd, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 Caribbean Jackâs is a waterfront restaurant located off of Ballough Road behind the Daytona Beach Marina where you can actually pull right up on your boat to the restaurantâs dock and moor up for a delicious lunch or dinner while you keep an eye on your vessel. Besides the convenient maritime access, the thing I love most about Caribbean Jackâs is they offer drink specials that vary based on the day of the week as well as enormous specialty cocktails that come with a souvenir glass you get to keep! Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse100 N Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32118 Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse is a refined, upscale restaurant that has everything you need to truly treat yourself and indulge in succulent, dry-aged cuts of premium beef while taking in the picturesque waterfront view of the Atlantic Ocean. When you come to Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, ready yourself to be enraptured by the chic ambiance paired with rich aromas of searing meat wafting from the kitchen as the entire restaurant bustles with life and laughter. You can find Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse on the first floor of the luxurious Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort where you are encouraged to leave your inhibitions at the door and immerse yourself in a resplendent dining experience. Chucherias Restaurant101 2nd St Suite 500, Holly Hill, FL 32117 Next is Chucherias Fine Dining, a Latin-Caribbean fusion restaurant with a quaint, rustic charm that makes you feel as though you are dining somewhere in the Spanish countryside where all of the food is homemade using traditional family recipes. When you visit Chucherias Fine Dining, I strongly recommend trying the roasted pork entree because the meat is marinated in the most magnificent blend of orange and garlic mojo that I have ever tasted, not to mention it comes with a side of white rice, black beans, and fried plantains. The Cellar Restaurant220 Magnolia Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 Located off of Magnolia Avenue near City Island and the Jackie Robinson Memorial Baseball Park is a place called The Cellar Restaurant where you can have an unforgettable meal at one of the best Daytona Beach restaurants. If you are something of a wine connoisseur, then The Cellar is where youâre going to want to go to dinner in Daytona Beach; the wine menu at this eatery is incredibly extensive, featuring pages upon pages of wines from around the globe. My favorite dishes to order from The Cellar are pretty much any of their homemade pasta, particularly the fettuccine with smoked salmon and peas in a creamy sauce. Bay Street Seafood141 Bay St, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 You simply canât come to Daytona Beach, or any of the other waterfront cities in Florida, and not order some of the phenomenal seafood thatâs available⸺that would be like visiting the Louvre Museum and not seeing the Mona Lisa. What you need to do when youâre in this city is head directly to Bay Street Seafood when youâre in the mood for something like fresh fish, crab cakes, or shrimp. My favorite thing to order from here is their blackened mahi-mahi sandwich that comes with one of their signature sides like coleslaw, french fries, onion rings, and many more. Dancing Avocado Kitchen110 S Beach St, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 Dancing Avocado Kitchen is located off of South Beach Street across from Riverfront Park where you can find some delightful breakfast options for when you want to really start your morning off right. I always come here for a quick breakfast sandwich and one of their cold, refreshing fruit smoothies. Are you vegan or vegetarian? No problem! Dancing Avocado Kitchen offers plenty of vegan and vegetarian options for most of their dishes, so thereâs really something for everyone here! Don Vitoâs Italian Restaurant137 W International Speedway Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 Check out this next place, Don Vitoâs Italian Restaurant, off of West International Speedway Boulevard, just north of the Angell and Phelps Chocolate Factory. Don Vitoâs is an unpretentious, casual Italian joint that I love to stop by whenever Iâm in the mood for some homestyle Italian comfort food. I love their pizza the most here at Don Vitoâs because all of their dough is homemade and baked in a real brick oven for that perfectly crispy crust. They also have calzones, as well, if youâre a fan of those like I am. Sessions Restaurant918 N Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32118 Head over to the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach for this next place called Sessions which I consider to be one of Daytona Beachâs best restaurants for both lunch and dinner by the water. Sessions has an extensive and eclectic menu covering just about everything from Italian dishes like seafood fra diavolo all the way to a delectable grilled snapper with a coconut curry sauce that I highly recommend to anyone that likes curry and fresh fish. One thing thatâs really great about this place is that if you eat too much and donât feel like leaving, you can simply rent a room in the luxurious 4-star hotel above you and stay for a few days, if you arenât already. Millieâs Restaurant3218 S Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach Shores, FL 32118 You can find this next place, Millieâs Restaurant, on the corner of South Atlantic Avenue and Cascade Terrace, right across the street from a wide array of more affordable places to stay on Daytona Beach like the Residence Inn by Marriott Daytona Beach and Dream Inn. Millieâs is an American restaurant serving up all the classics that we know and love in a beachy, no-frills atmosphere thatâs only a few steps away from the world-famous Daytona Beach. I wholly recommend their local fish sandwich thatâs made with their fresh fish of the day which you can have either grilled or blackened, and it comes with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and a delicious tartar sauce made in-house. Racingâs North Turn4511 S Atlantic Ave, Ponce Inlet, FL 32127 Racingâs North Turn is a terrific place to eat on the water that specializes in serving up some of the most exquisite, freshest seafood that you can get at what I consider to be one of the best restaurants near Daytona Beach, FL. Youâll be able to taste the ocean in every bite, thatâs how fresh the fish and shellfish are here at Racingâs North Turn. I highly recommend trying their bacon-wrapped sea scallops for a real treat, but it is also extremely tough to pass on the oysters Rockefeller on the half-shell, so you may as well get both! Daytona Taproom310 Seabreeze Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32118 Head on over to the Seabreeze Historic District and look for the Daytona Taproom off of Seabreeze Boulevard where youâll be pleasantly greeted by some absolutely mouth-watering burgers and draft beer. All of the meat they use here at Daytona Taproom is 100% black Angus chuck that comes in whopping â -pound patties that are grilled to your specifications. My favorite burger to order is actually the same burger that Adam Richman devoured in an episode of Man vs. Food called âThe Pig Burgerâ which comes topped with pulled pork, bacon, a fried egg, and onion straws. 31 Supper Club31 W Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174 31 Supper Club is the ultimate destination for steak, seafood, and cocktails all wrapped up in a classic, retro atmosphere complete with live music. This is one of the places I love to go near Daytona Beach for surf nâ turf. You can order a 6-ounce filet of black Angus beef alongside a fresh, buttery lobster tail accompanied by garlic-whipped mashed potatoes. Check out 31 Supper Club off of West Granada Boulevard near Cassen Park and A1A North, just a little ways away from the Birthplace of Speed Park and Fortunato Park. Chart House Restaurant â Daytona Beach1100 Marina Point Dr, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 Chart House is a high-end seafood restaurant that serves nothing but the freshest, most premium fish and shellfish available for you to enjoy right on the water with a beautiful view of the Halifax River. When you get to Chart House, I recommend ordering any of their various fish filets available such as grouper, mahi-mahi, trout, salmon, and ahi tuna which is my favorite. After dinner, youâll definitely want to indulge in one of their many decadently sweet treats like a hot chocolate lava cake or a slice of classic key lime pie. Martiniâs Organic Restaurant1815 S Ridgewood Ave, South Daytona, FL 32119 Next up is a place called Martiniâs Organic Restaurant where they specialize in utilizing nothing but all-natural, fresh ingredients to make the highest-quality cuisine possible, becoming apparent with every bite. The menu is seasonal and ever-changing here at Martiniâs, but that only makes me love it more because I never know what new and beautiful creation the chef has concocted for me. Look for Martiniâs Organic Restaurant off of South Ridgewood Avenue near Palm Harbor Estates and just south of the Daytona Beach Golf Club. Zen Bistro223 Magnolia Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 The penultimate place for you to try near Daytona Beach is called Zen Bistro and itâs a lovely, family-owned Thai restaurant that has both indoor and outdoor seating along with a full bar and firepit. Zen Bistro serves both lunch and dinner, so you can stop by pretty much whenever for some phenomenal Thai cuisine. My favorite thing to order from this place is their red curry, but they offer 8 other flavors to try for all my fellow curry-lovers out there. Stonewood Grill and Tavern2150 LPGA Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32117 Last, but not least, come check out Stonewood Grill and Tavern off of LPGA Boulevard across the street from Cornerstone Office Park, just north of both the Daytona Automall and the Tanger Outlets Daytona Beach shopping center. I Highly recommend going all-out and ordering their succulent, slow-roasted prime rib that comes served with rosemary au jus and horseradish sauce with your choice of a side. This is also a really fantastic place to feed the entire family at home thanks to their âFamily Bundlesâ that you can order for takeout on nights when you just donât feel like cooking! Final ThoughtsAs you can see, Daytona Beach should be at the top of your list if youâre planning on taking a trip down here. This city has everything you could ever want in the way of attractions and family fun, but there are also tons of bars and pubs to go to and relax with a drink, as well. No matter what youâre looking for in Daytona Beach, Florida, just follow this guide and youâll be sure to find it! See anything missing from the list? Our Favorite Rum for Making Pina Coladas8/27/2021
Our Favorite Rum for Making Pina Coladas
The Pina Colada is a cocktail that can only be described as classic. Enjoyed in bars around the world, this fruity cocktail remains a firm favorite with cocktail lovers and tourists alike. Blending together the smooth flavors of pineapple juice, coconut milk and rum – the Pina Colada is also a relatively simple cocktail to make. So simple in fact, that you can make it from the comfort of your own home. Although pineapple juice and coconut milk are relatively easy ingredients to purchase, you need to make sure that you are also buying the right rum for the job. Currently, there are hundreds of different rums that can be used to make this delicious cocktail – so narrowing down your choices could prove a little difficult. So to help aid you in your search, we have compiled a list of 10 of the best rums for Pina Coladas that money can buy. While this tropical cocktail can work well with almost any rum, the ones we have picked promise to elevate the recipe to new and exciting heights. The Best Rum for Pina Coladas
MalibuFor our first entry, we have a classic rum that we think everyone was expecting to see. When it comes to making your own Pina Coladas at home, you most definitely cannot go wrong with using Malibu as your base. This Caribbean rum has been infused with coconut liqueur to create a spirit that is smooth, warm and refreshing. If you want to mix up a Pina Colada that accentuates the creamy tones and coconuty flavor of the recipe – then this is the perfect rum for you. As a bonus, Malibu is a relatively tame rum with only 42 proof. This means you can enjoy a few cocktails before beginning to feel tipsy or drunk. Rum FireA particular favorite among bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts alike, Rum Fire promises to deliver a Pina Colada that truly captures the classic tropical taste. Packed full of tropical hogo, this Jamaican rum blends beautifully with pineapple and coconut to create a cocktail that tastes both elevated and professional. Rum Fire is an overproof rum, which means it contains a higher-than-normal proof. This makes it one of the strongest rums on our list with an ABV of 63 per cent. ZayaOriginating from Trinidad and Tobago, this rich and heavy rum is the perfect choice when making more indulgent Pina Colada recipes. The dark rum is said to have a smooth and fruity flavor, which is then offset by the addition of a decadent and oaky influence. The rum also implements spice to give it an aromatic note, which works particularly well when blended with creamier flavors such as coconut and pineapple. Zaya comes aged 12 years and is one of the stronger entries on our list with an ABV of 40 per cent. Ron Barcelo Gran PlatinumRon Barcelo Gran Platinum is a rum that should always be kept in the cupboard for special occasions. Considered by many to be one of the most delicious and smoothest rums on the market, this particular spirit is favored when making lighter cocktails such as Daiquiris. However, this doesn’t mean that it can’t deliver a crisp and sweet Pina Colada as well. Gran Platinum is made by ageing rum in bourbon barrels before filtering the liquid to remove any darkness or hue. The final result is a rum that glows with notes of caramel and spice, the perfect combination when offset by the creaminess of coconut and pineapple. Plantation Stiggins’ Fancy Pineapple RumCurrently, there are scores of flavored rums on the market that can help to elevate the overall quality of your Pina Colada. But if you’re looking for something more on the fruity side, then we highly recommend giving Plantation rum a shot! This infused rum comes to us from Barbados, where it has been infused with a rich and burnt pineapple flavor. When added to a traditional Pina Colada, this rum helps to give the cocktail a caramelized undertone and an overall juicy boost. So if you are looking for a way to pack more fruity flavor into your cocktails, we suggest going out and purchasing this rum today! Stroh 160Sometimes it’s good to give a creamy cocktail some much-needed spice, and there’s no better rum for the job than Stroh 160. After being aged for 3 years in oak barrels, this Austrian spiced rum delivers a rich flavor that is sweet and floral on the tongue. However, when it has been added to a traditional Pina Colada, the spicy notes help to highlight the classic ingredients. Mixing the flavors of coconut and pineapple with ghostly touches of butterscotch and vanilla. This rum is also 160 proof and promises to add some extra heat to the tropical cocktail, giving it a warm and almost festive feel. We highly recommend purchasing this rum if you enjoy a Pina Colada that packs a punch while remaining sweet and delicious. Cruzan Estate DiamondProduced in the Virgin Islands, Cruzan Estate Diamond is regarded as one of the go-to rums when it comes to mixing a perfect Pina Colada. The vibrant spirit is an aged dark rum that combines notes of chocolate, vanilla and banana with a rich and oaky essence to create a rum that is sweet, pungent and memorable. Once you have added this dark rum to your classic Pina Colada recipe, you will see a marked difference in the quality and flavor of your cocktail. This rum is capable of brightening up the classic Pina Colada flavors to create something more intriguing, delicious and unique. Cruzan Estate Diamond comes with an ABV of 40 per cent and can be used in a variety of other cocktails. Bati Fijian White RumWhile most highly recommended rums are produced in the Caribbean, our next entry comes to us all the way from the small oceanic island of Fiji. Made from hand-grown sugar cane and aged for 2 years in oak wood caskets, this white rum is filtered through coconut shell carbon before being bottled and sold. The end result is a crystalline rum that is rich, sweet and truly embodies the essence of its small island home. Distinctive in its buttery smoothness and rich vanilla flavor, this particular rum blends beautifully with the classic Pina Colada ingredients to create an elevated cocktail that looks and tastes amazing. Smith & CrossAnother rum that makes its home on the island of Jamaica, Smith & Cross is the rum you need if you want to elevate your Pina Colada to an almost professional level of flavor. This particular rum blend can trace its lineage back to 1788 and has been produced using a combination of traditional Jamaican ingredients such as molasses, cane juice, skimmings and sugar syrup. The final result is a dark rum that is combined with the rich notes of fruit and spice, to create a drink that is earthy, aromatic and sweet in tone. When added to a classic Pina Colada, the caramelized banana flavor of the rum helps to elevate the tropical ingredients – giving it a more traditional and authentic twist. The rum has an APV of 57 per cent and promises to deliver tones of smoke and honey to your palette. Mount Gay EclipseMount Gay Eclipse is a rum that helms from the island of Barbados, where it is favored for its character, body and smokey nature. The amber-colored rum is noticeable for its full and rounded flavor, which is said to include notes of fresh flowers, honey, tropical fruit and even a hint of vanilla. When mixed into a traditional Pina Colada cocktail these notes are heightened, with the smooth flavors of apricot and banana blending beautifully with the pineapple juice and coconut milk. As a rum, Mount Gay Eclipse adds a level of maturity to the Pina Colada, finishing it off with a smokey aftertaste that is exciting and new. With an APV of 40 per cent, this particular rum takes its name from the double phenomenon of the total solar eclipse and the passage of Halley’s comet in 1910. Kissimmee Restaurants That You Need to Try While in Town
Most people, when they think of Kissimmee, think of Disney World amusement park, or maybe Epcot, because theyâre both so close by. But, what some people donât realize is that Kissimmee is home to some restaurants that are so incredible that they might make you forget all about those Florida theme parks. Cities in Florida like Kissimmee are such wonderful places to live because they perfectly intertwine the experience of living down here in the South with that famous tropical Florida vibe only an hour and a half away on Cocoa Beach, so you really get the best of both worlds here. Looking for some classic, mouth-watering BBQ? Thereâs definitely no shortage of that down here! How about some fresh seafood like a fat filet of blackened grouper? No better place to go when youâre in Central Florida, so check out this guide below to find the best restaurants Kissimmee has to offer. Best Restaurants in Kissimmee
The Venetian Chop House8101 World Center Dr, Orlando, FL 32821 Come check out The Venetian Chop House inside the gorgeous Caribe Royale Orlando hotel where you might just end up staying after you fall into a food-coma from all the delicious steak! This place is the perfect destination for dinner after a long day at all the fun places like Seaworld Orlando and Walt Disney World Resort because itâs right in the heart of the action. Some of the best dinner items featured at The Venetian Chophouse, in my opinion, are their bison short ribs and, of course, the black Angus ribeye steak. Woodsbyâs Café4515 S Orange Blossom Trail, Kissimmee, FL 34746 The next amazing place to eat near Kissimmee that I want to mention is called Woodsbyâs Countryside Café off of South Orange Blossom Trail; theyâre a little ways off the beaten path, but they are 100% worth going out of your way for. Woodsbyâs Countryside Café perfectly encapsulates that classic country diner vibe where you just know the biscuits are homemade and the coffee is always fresh. I love to come here for their all-day breakfast, but they also have delicious lunch and dinner menus that are chock-full of comfort foods that we all love like country fried steak and fried catfish filets. Jimmy Bearâs BBQ4247 13th St, St Cloud, FL 34769 Jimmy Bearâs BBQ is up next and they have to be one of the best barbecue joints that Iâve had the pleasure of visiting in quite some time and theyâre located off of 13th Street in the same plaza as the Publix Super Market Center of St. Cloud. This place is basically one of my favorite places to go near Kissimmee for barbecue because itâs just outside the city limits, so not many people actually know about it. Itâs like a little hidden gem thatâs never too crowded where you can always find delicious BBQ. I strongly recommend an order of their beef brisket or pork belly burnt ends, but my all-time favorite dish of theirs is their country rib sandwich. Tarantinoâs Italian Restaurant2095 E Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34744 Next, head down to Tarantinoâs Italian restaurant for a no-frills, homestyle Italian meal that will have you coming back several times a week. What I recommend most from Tarantinoâs is their lobster ravioli or their veal piccata. Another thing I love about this place is that they offer a takeout dinner special for 4 people that comes with a massive half-pan filled with your choice of entrees like chicken parmesan or fettuccine Alfredo alongside a salad and garlic bread. Check out Tarantinoâs Italian Restaurant off of East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, just down the street from the Silver Spurs Arena. Express Cafe5820 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746 Up next is a place called Express Cafe located off of the West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in the same plaza as the exhilarating Old Town theme park where they specialize in Brazilian dishes and Cuban sandwiches as well as baked goods and breakfast foods. I absolutely love the arepas here at Express Cafe, but what really steals the show is their perfectly-toasted Cuban Sandwich filled with authentic mojo pork, if you ask me. Chuyâs7913 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34747 Chuyâs is a well-known, popular Mexican restaurant that you can find off of the West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, right across the street from the Island H20 Water Park, where you can get all the best Tex-Mex classics and plenty of margaritas. Iâm a huge chips and queso fan, so itâs impossible for me not to start my meal here at Chuyâs off with that, but after a few margs, I like to get something a bit more substantial in me like one of their gargantuan âBig As Yoâ Faceâ burritos that are sure to satisfy the hungriest of patrons. Eleven7593 Gathering Dr, Kissimmee, FL 34747 This next place, Eleven, is a refined steakhouse at the Reunion Resort and Golf Club that makes for an absolutely ideal dinner spot after 18 holes of golf. If you really want to treat yourself to a succulent steak, then I recommend coming to Eleven and ordering their signature bone-in, prime cowboy ribeye that weighs in at a mind-blowing 18 ounces! Chef Johnâs Place1210 Lago Vista Ct, Kissimmee, FL 34746 The Grille at Bellalago, also known as Chef Johnâs Place, is a refined seafood restaurant located off of Lago Vista Court where you can enjoy a premium dining experience with gorgeous lakeside views. When you come here for dinner, I recommend trying an order of Chef Johnâs amazing seafood gumbo and then moving into the grilled or blackened grouper for your entree. After that, finish up the night with a slice of Chef Johnâs key lime pie and a beautiful evening walk along the boardwalk on Lake Tohopekaliga. Brunoâs Italian Restaurant8556 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34747 Brunoâs is an old-school Italian restaurant located off of West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway next to the Champions World Resort and almost directly across the street from Orange Lake Golf. My favorite reason to come visit Brunoâs is for their absolutely incredible New York-style pizza with all of the premium toppings I can fit on it, but sometimes I opt for one of their gigantic calzones or stromboli. El Tapatio1804 W Vine St, Kissimmee, FL 34741 Next up, head towards West Vine Street and look for El Tapatio when you want some authentic, traditional Mexican food that will absolutely knock your socks off. I love El Tapatio because they have an enormous tequila selection for me to sample and find new favorite ones, but the food is delectable as well, featuring classics like a molcajete Tarasco which you can order for 2 people. MOOR6000 W Osceola Pkwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746 Next up is MOOR, a refined seafood restaurant located inside the luxurious Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center which is almost like its own little city. This is the place to be for fresh seafood in Kissimmee. You can find every bounty the sea has to offer like ahi tuna tartar to start with, all the way to their pan-seared grouper and blackened Faroe Island salmon. Flipperâs Pizzeria5770 US-192, Kissimmee, FL 34746 When you want some crispy, brick-oven pizza, then the only place to come when youâre in Kissimmee is Flipperâs Pizzeria off of US-192, next to the Celebration Suites hotel and Fun Spot America Theme Parks. This cozy counter-serve pizza joint near Kissimmee is such a chill, relaxed place to come and enjoy a slice of pizza that offers both indoor and outdoor seating with both a comfy dining room and a spacious outdoor patio. I really love the pizza here at Flipperâs because they use only all-natural meats and cheeses so you know youâre truly getting the best of the best. Southern Breeze Restaurant5770 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746 Another place I love to eat at when Iâm in Kissimmee is called Southern Breeze Restaurant, a hip American restaurant that has classic American foods like burgers, hot dogs, and a true Florida delicacy: gator! The drink specials are simply unbelievable here at Southern Breeze. If you like collectible drink glasses, then this Southern Breeze is going to be your haven; they offer everything from 32-ounce yardsticks to an absolutely ludicrous 100-ounce âBone Yardâ that you can fill with all sorts of fruity frozen flavors of daiquiri. Sakeba Asian Pub & Grill5770 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy ste 414, Kissimmee, FL 34746 Just up the road from the CLC Regal Oaks Resort and the Tropical Palm RV Resort is a place called Sakeba Asian Pub & Grill in Old Town that features incredible Asian cuisines from various countries as well as an impressive medley of sake to enjoy. What I recommend the most here at Sakeba Asian Pub & Grill is their extremely exquisite red Thai curry that comes available with either veggies, chicken, steak, shrimp, or a combo of all three types of meat. El Borrego5770 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746 El Borrego is another fantastic Mexican restaurant near Kissimmee that I frequent anytime I have the pleasure of being in the area. They have phenomenal elotes and chile relleno here at El Borrego, which is what I usually order, but they also have a birria quesadilla thatâs even better than a regular cheese quesadilla which I didnât think was even possible! Froggerâs Bar & Grill5770 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746 Last up is Froggerâs Bar & Grill, another laid-back Old Town favorite for food, drinks, and fun all in one convenient location off of West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. I highly recommend their buffalo chicken nachos here at Froggerâs Bar & Grill because they are unlike any other nachos you will ever have, in my opinion, but they also serve delicious Angus burgers and delectable thin-crust pizza. King O Falafel5045 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746 King O Falafel is a Mediterranean restaurant off of West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, right next to the International Heli Tours South helicopter tour agency and FantasyWorld Resort. When you get to King O Falafel, I highly recommend you try one of their gyro sandwiches or chicken kabob because those are my two favorite dishes, by far. They also offer a variety of homemade desserts, as well as tea and coffee. Final ThoughtsIf youâve never been to Kissimmee before, then youâre probably going to want to go after reading this article. Kissimmee is a small hidden jewel of Central Florida thatâs packed with both fun and flavor for everyone, so go ahead and start visiting all the places on this list the next time youâre in town⸺you wonât regret it! Top 19 Blue Cocktails That Look and Taste Great
When it comes to drinking cocktails, you’re never going to be short of choice. There’s an abundance of different options out there. If however, you’re looking for something a little different for your weekend drinks, why not try some delicious and stunning blue-colored cocktails – there’s plenty of choice! Not only are blue cocktails dazzling on the eye, they’re often packed with appetizing fruity flavors that are fun to drink with friends and family. In this guide, I’ll take a look at 19 of the best blue-colored cocktails you can try making at home that look great and taste equally as good. 1). Blue HawaiianRum, blue curacao, pineapple juice, coconut cream The Blue Hawaiian cocktail is a delicious, sweet tropical drink that’s perfect for summer afternoons by the pool. In essence, this cocktail is a colorful variation of the popular Pina Colada – it just splits up the the flavors of coconut and pineapple with blue curacao which provides the alluring aquamarine color. It’s best garnished with a pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry. 2). Deep Blue Sea MartiniVodka, blue curacao, sour mix, pineapple juice If you’re in the mood for a fruity vodka martini, this deep blue cocktail is a great option. It not only looks stunning, it provides a sour tropical fruit flavor which is refreshing and will leave you wanting more than just one. It’s quick and easy to put together and a great addition to any party. 3). FrostbiteTequila, blue curacao, (white) creme de cacao liqueur, cream Something a little different, the Frostbite is an appealing blue cocktail with a tequila base and chocolate and orange liqueurs. It may sound like an unusual combination of ingredients, but the Frostbite is a popular recipe that’s been around for some time. It’s worth noting that it’s important to choose white creme de cacao rather than dark brown, so the blue curacao can control the drink’s absorbing color. This cocktail is best garnished with a cherry. 4). Blue MargaritaTequila, blue curacao, lime juice, coarse salt (for rim) If you love the taste of a traditional margarita but want a drink that’s more appealing on the eye, look no further than the Blue Margarita. This cocktail substitutes triple sec with another type of orange liqueur, blue curacao, creating a stunning blue drink, without changing the flavor of a traditional margarita all that much. If you like, you can rim your chilled margarita glass with salt to enjoy this drink. A lime wedge or a slice of orange provide the best garnish. 5). Moody BlueGin, blue curacao, sweet vermouth, orange juice Made from gin, blue curacao and sweet vermouth, this cocktail is less well-known than most of the others on this list, but it’s equally delicious. Its ingredients need to be shaken well before serving into a glass of your choice. This cocktail is best garnished with a slice of orange. 6). Air Force OneHpnotiq liqueur, citrus vodka, citrus soda This is a cocktail slightly lighter on the alcohol, so perfect for casual drinking. It gets its beautiful, bright-blue color from Hpnotiq, and its refreshing flavor from the citrus vodka and citrus soda. The Air Force One is a pour-and-enjoy drink that’s best served in a chilled highball glass. 7). Blue LagoonVodka, blue curacao, lemon-lime soda This is a simple three-ingredient cocktail but an incredibly popular one, especially during the summer. The Blue Lagoon is best served in a highball glass, garnished with either an orange slice or a lemon slice. A popular variation of this drink is to add a dash of lime cordial to accentuate the delicious citrus flavor. 8). Chocolate Raspberry MartiniUV Blue vodka, white creme de cacao liqueur, triple sec, lime juice Sweet, fruity and delicious, the Chocolate Raspberry Martini is a cocktail you can’t miss out on. It mixes citrus flavors with a delicate hint of chocolate and is perfect for dessert. The vivid blue color of the drink comes from UV Blue, a raspberry-flavored vodka, which combines excellently with the orange and lime flavors of the other ingredients. If you want to add a garnish, a simple orange or lime twist provides an elegant touch. 9). Blue DragonVodka mandarin, blue curacao This cocktail is made from vodka and blue curacao. It’s best shaken with some crushed ice until the ingredients have properly mixed together, and then poured into a martini glass. The most popular garnish for this drink is either a slice of orange or a cherry. 10). Chi-ChiVodka, blue curacao, coconut cream, cubed pineapple, vanilla ice cream The Chi-Chi is the only frozen cocktail on this list and is ideal for a treat on a hot summer’s day. It provides an exceptional tropical taste and is a little different to the average cocktail. Packed with pineapple and coconut flavors, the Chi-Chi bears some resemblance to a pina colada, except with an added vodka twist. It’s worth noting that it’s a little creamier than most frozen cocktails due to the inclusion of both coconut cream and ice cream. If you want to garnish the drink, the most popular choice is a fresh pineapple wedge. 11). Blue BombsicleRaspberry vodka, lemonade This sweet cocktail is one of the easiest to make and perfect for busy parties. All you need is blue raspberry vodka, lemonade, ice, and you’re good to go. If you want to spruce it up a little and add some extra flavor, you can also add raspberries and lime. 12). Blue MartiniVodka, blue curacao, angostura bitters The Blue Martini is a great cocktail to look at with its vivid color. It can be made by half filling a cocktail shaker with ice and adding angostura bitters, vodka and blue curacao. Shake these ingredients well and then strain into a cocktail glass of your choice. As is the case with most martinis, this cocktail is best garnished with olives. 13). Blue MoonGin, blue curacao Another extremely simple cocktail to put together is the Blue Moon. Made from just gin and blue curacao, stir the ingredients together and then strain in a chilled glass. This cocktail is typically garnished with a lemon twist. 14). Blue BayouVodka, blue curacao, grapefruit juice, fresh or canned pineapple chunks This stunning cocktail combines grapefruit juice with the popular combination of blue curacao and pineapple to create a fruity, flavorful and refreshing drink. It’s ideal for summer, and very similar to a vodka margarita. To put the drink together, simply blend the vodka, blue curacao, pineapple and grapefruit juice with some ice until smooth. Then, pour into a chilled highball glass and garnish with a fresh pineapple wedge. 15). Daphne MartiniGin, pear vodka, blue curacao, dry vermouth, orange bitters The Daphne Martini combines gin and pear-infused vodka to create a strong and tasty cocktail. The drink has a perfect balance of dry, sweet and fruity flavors making it an appealing choice for most people. It’s worth noting that the drink is made up entirely of liquor, so be careful not to knock them back too quickly. Almost any garnish works with this cocktail so be creative. In terms of the choice of gin, if you’re looking for a light and refreshing Daphne Martini, try something similar to Bombay Sapphire. On the other hand, Bulldog and Martin Miller’s gin will take the cocktail to the drier side. 16). Electric LemonadeVodka, blue curacao, sweet and sour mix, 7-up soda This is a sweet and tangy vodka cocktail perfect for summer and outdoor gatherings. Simply combine vodka, blue curacao and sweet and sour mix, and strain the mixture into a glass. Then, fill up the glass with soda, usually 7-up. If you want the full effect, add a couple of glowing ice cubes to the drink. This cocktail is best served with a lemon wedge or cherry garnish. 17). Something BlueHpnotiq liqueur, white wine, ginger ale This is a cocktail well-suited to being served at weddings and bridal showers. This is because it’s easy to make, beautiful to look at, and great-tasting. The alluring blue-colored spirit of Hpnotiq is mixed with white wine and a small amount of ginger ale. The latter gives the drink its stunning and elegant sparkle. To prepare the cocktail, all you need to do is pour the three ingredients into a champagne flute – there’s no need to stir the drink as the bubbles from the soda will do the mixing for you. 18). Swan LakeVodka, blue curacao, vanilla liqueur, light cream, banana This blue-colored cocktail is a little different to many of the cocktails on this list and requires longer to prepare. Firsty, you’ll need to mix the vanilla liqueur and half of the vodka in one blender, while in another blender, blend the rest of the vodka with cream, blue curacao and banana. Pour both mixtures into a chilled cocktail glass at the same time and garnish with chocolate powder. This is a filling, but delicious drink. 19). SmurfStrawberry vodka, blue curacao, lime juice, lemon-lime soda The final cocktail on this list is the Smurf. To prepare this drink, you’ll need to fill a highball glass with ice and add your measurements of strawberry vodka, blue curacao and lime juice. Top the drink with lemon-lime soda, usually either 7-up or Sprite, and garnish with a cherry. Astoria Restaurants You Need to Check Out This Week
Usually, when someone mentions going out to eat in New York City, people tend to immediately think of the bustling restaurants full of tourists in Times Square or the Michelin-star restaurants in the Flatiron District. But, true NY foodies know that the best cuisine can often be found off the beaten path in smaller neighborhoods, especially Astoria. Besides the Museum of the Moving Image and some great off-Broadway theaters, the most enjoyable part of my time in Astoria, NY came from visiting all of the exquisite, lesser-known restaurants scattered throughout this charming neighborhood. In order to help other food-lovers like myself have the same wonderful experiences when they find themselves in this delightful part of Queens, I decided to compile this handy guide to finding the greatest restaurants around the area to eliminate the need for any stress or worry so you can get right to the good stuff! Best Restaurants in Astoria
Vesta Trattoria & Wine Bar21-02 30th Ave, Queens, NY 11102 First up is an absolute gem of a restaurant called Vesta Trattoria & Wine Bar that has to be one of the best places to eat in Astoria for authentic Italian cuisine, if you ask me. Everything here is made from scratch and all of that effort is clearly evident in each bite of everything from their homemade pasta to their veal shank osso buco. Look for Vesta Trattoria off of 21st Street and 30th Avenue, right across the street from the Van Alst Playground. Butcher Bar37-10 30th Ave, Queens, NY 11103 As someone who was born in the South, there are few things I love more than some good, old-fashioned BBQ, but one of the last places I expected to find that was here in Astoria, NY⸺until I went to Butcher Bar, that is. Butcher Bar is a barbecue restaurant where all of their beef is grass-fed and the chicken is %100 organic, located off of 30th Avenue just a short walk away from the 30th Avenue subway station entrance. When you get to Butcher Bar, I highly recommend trying some of their unbelievable double-smoked burnt ends. Astoria Seafood and Grill25-79 Steinway St, Queens, NY 11103 Now, onto the seafood-loverâs paradise: Astoria Seafood and fish market. This is the place to go for the freshest fish in all of NYC, I think, and you even have the option of buying wholesale if you operate a restaurant yourself. When you head to Astoria Seafood, make sure to try whatever their whole fried red snapper thatâs big enough to share, except you wonât want to! Check out Astoria Seafood off of 37th Avenue and 33rd Street, just northwest of The Collective Paper Factory hotel. Sugar FreakAdd37-11 30th Ave, Queens, NY 11103 Next up is a place called Sugar Freak that you can find right across the street from Butcher Bar on 30th Avenue, right down the road from Ocean Fish Market. Sugar Freak is a Creole restaurant that serves up incredibly delicious Southern classics inside their own little slice of New Orleans right here in New York. When you go here, I highly recommend visiting during their bottomless mimosa brunch special from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM on Fridays, and from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays for some weekend fun. Il Bambino34-08 31st Ave, Queens, NY 11106 Il Bambino is a unique and interesting Italian restaurant in Astoria, NY that specializes in panini, tapas, and all the antipasti you could ever want to accompany your wine. I cannot recommend anywhere else in the city that has a better panini than Il Bambino, and the sheer number of variations they offer is simply mind-blowing. I highly recommend either their Italian meatloaf panini or the roasted chicken panini that comes with delicious maple bacon aioli. Bahari Estiatorio31-14 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106 Another phenomenal dining destination in Astoria that youâre not going to want to miss out on is a place called Bahari Estiatorio that specializes in Greek cuisine, boasting a menu of âHellenic standardsâ. Bahari Estiatorio offers a medley of grilled fish, grilled meats, and even traditional oven-baked casserole dishes called margeirefta that are totally to-die-for. The Pomeroy36-12 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria, NY 11105 Now, itâs time to introduce The Pomeroy, a New American restaurant located off of Ditmars Boulevard that serves artisan cuisine in a hip, comfy setting. When you head down to The Pomeroy, be sure to try their short rib tacos or their honey chipotle chicken wings because they both go great alongside one of their countless craft beer options. Marâs34-21 34th Ave, Queens, NY 11106 Up next weâre going to want to head to Marâs for some raw oysters and drinks in this vintage-style restaurant located off of 35th Street and 34th Avenue, right across from CTown Supermarkets and just a couple blocks from the Museum of the Moving Image. They serve both brunch and dinner here at this amazing Astoria restaurant, and I wholly recommend trying both! Off The Hook Raw Bar2808 34th St, Queens, NY 11103 Off The Hook Raw Bar is a hidden gem of a restaurant thatâs tucked away off of 34th Street, so it can be a bit easy to miss sometimes, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled because you donât want to pass on this place. This is one of the best places to eat in Astoria, NY if youâre in the mood for a massive Maine lobster weighing in at around 1.25 pounds, but they also have plenty of other fresh seafood that youâre going to seriously love. Ovelia34-01 30th Ave, Astoria, NY 11103 Ovelia is a modern Greek restaurant that you can find off of 34th Street and 40th Avenue, right down the road from the United Brothers Fruit Markets and the Key Food Supermarket. When you visit Ovelia, my top recommended dish for you to order is either their whole branzino or their Greek coffee-rubbed brisket. Meet the Meat2392 21st St, Astoria, NY 11105 Steak is my all-time favorite food in the world, so when I stopped by Meet the Meat on a whim, I was absolutely blown away by the quality of their food and service. My favorite dish that I ordered from Meet the Meat during my time in Astoria was their bone-in, prime sirloin steak, but they also have an enormous porterhouse steak meant for 3 people that you should definitely try if youâre with some friends or family. Sansford Astoria30-13 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106 Sanfords Astoria is a New American restaurant that puts their own unique spin on classic American comfort food, and they do it oh-so-well if you ask me. They have both a brunch menu with a fun option to make it boozy with mimosas, and they also offer a dinner menu that features an oyster happy hour every day starting at 4:00 PM! One of my highest recommended dishes from Sanfords Astoria would have to be their gouda-stuffed duck burger; Iâd simply never had a burger so delectable in my life until I came to NYC and found this place. Taverna Kyclades33-07 Ditmars Blvd, Queens, NY 11105 Taverna Kyclades is one of the most popular restaurants in Astoria, NY for plenty of reasons, but what makes it one of my favorite restaurants to go to when Iâm in the area is the fact that they have more Greek seafood dishes to choose from than anywhere else Iâve ever been. Look for Taverna Kyclades off of Ditmars Boulevard on the ground floor of The Acropolis, and when you find it, be sure to get an order of the grilled swordfish⸺you wonât regret it! The Highwater34-20 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106 Next up, head to The Highwater, a bar & grill located off of Broadway and 35th Street where youâll find some of the best food in Astoria, in my opinion. They have everything from tacos and salads to burgers and brunch, so no matter what youâre looking for, The Highwater has an eclectic menu that will be sure to have something you love. I strongly recommend their âVolcano Platterâ which is a selection of 4 delicious appetizers that come served together on a flaming platter so you really get a nice mix of flavors. Pye Boat Noodle35-13 Broadway, Queens, NY 11106Address Pye Boat Noodle is an authentic Thai restaurant located off of Broadway Avenue in Astoria that I think youâre going to love just as much as I do. I think this is the best place to get Pad Thai in the area, but they also have other Thai delicacies like pad see ew and tom yum. Pye Boat Noodle is also a great place to come for craft cocktails and lots of premium liquors like vodka, whiskey, bourbon, cognac, and much more. Vite Vinosteria31-05 34th St, Astoria, NY 11106 This next amazing Astoria restaurant on my list is called Vite Vinosteria and itâs where youâll find some of the best Italian food in NYC which I know is a bold claim, but their homestyle Italian cooking really blew my mind when I had the pleasure of dining there. You can come here for both brunch and dinner, but I think Vite Vinosteria really shines best during their dinner service. My favorite pasta that I tried here at Vite Vinosteria was their gnocchi, but they have exquisite meat and seafood dishes as well for those that crave a bit more protein. Salvatoria Kitchen & Bar31-18 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106 I had never before eaten at a Salvadoran restaurant prior to visiting Salvatoria Kitchen & Bar, but now that Iâve tried their magnificent cuisine, I will always be on the lookout for places like it. I recommend either their carne asada for the surf and turf, both come with their amazing sauteed skirt steak, but probably my favorite menu items of theirs are the different picadas they offer Milkflower34-12 31st Ave, Astoria, NY 11106 Milkflower is over off of 31st Avenue where you can get a classic slice of New York pizza without having to venture into the crowded city. Itâs hard to beat delicious wood-fired pizza, but they also have mouth-watering small plates like wood-roasted octopus and some insanely tasty roasted meatballs. My most recommend pizza from here has to be the one they call the âQueenâ which comes with tomato, mozzarella, basil, and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. DiWine41-15 31st Ave, Astoria, NY 11103 Just a few blocks west of the Astoria Heights Playground off of 31st Avenue is a place called DiWine, a delightful gastropub that features creative, infused cocktails as well as cheese and meat charcuterie boards. They serve dinner here every day starting at 5:00 PM and going all the way until 1:00 AM, making DiWine one of my favorite late-night haunts for food and drinks with happy hour specials every day. Zenon Taverna34-10 31st Ave, Astoria, NY 11106 Lastly, no visit to Astoria is complete without a stop by Zenon Taverna, an unbelievably resplendent Greek restaurant that you can find off of 31st Avenue. What I love most about Zenon Taverna is that everything is made in-house from authentic, traditional Greek and Cypriot recipes that are not commonly found in most restaurants. I strongly recommend you try their appetizer of grilled quails before diving into one of their succulent meat platters like the souvlaki pork kebabs. Final ThoughtsAs you can see, Astoria is no slouch when it comes to great places to eat, and it just goes to show that you donât always need to brave the crowded streets of Manhattan in order to find restaurants in NYC with top-quality cuisine. 17 Spooky Halloween Cocktails8/25/2021
17 Spooky Halloween Cocktails
No Halloween party is complete without a truly terrifying selection of alcoholic beverages. After all, there’s no better way to get everyone in the spooky spirit than having them drink a cocktail that looks as if it’s been made with the freshest blood and most succulent of eyeballs. This is one of the most fun things about Halloween. The decorations and the perfectly curated Halloween playlist can be complemented by unleashing your imagination upon the beverages you serve your guests. It’s one of the best ways to make your party memorable and it also has the added benefit of getting everyone in the partying spirit! 1. Black WidowThe black widow pays homage to its namesake with eerie black and red coloring that when mixed correctly can look even more otherworldly. It’s essentially a vodka cranberry but its ingredients make it look nothing like its relatively simple counterpart. If you mix the drink however you will lose the two-tone effect fairly quickly so keep that in mind. 2. ZombieThe zombie is a relatively simple cocktail that is rum-based and sweetened with fruit juice. In this sense it’s quite similar to punch, however, the Zombie is a little more potent and can be customized according to your preference. You can do this by changing the juices used or using lighter or darker rums. 3. Wolf BiteWolf Bite is as ferocious as it sounds, packing a hell of a punch in a shot glass. The base of the cocktail is melon or pineapple liquor, mixed with pineapple juice. The bite however is provided by a ¼ ounce of absinthe which can be snuck into your cocktails to take your friends by surprise! Finish this off with some grenadine and a splash of soda for a truly devious beverage. 4. Frog in a BlenderThis drink is a little less impressive than some others, however, the effect can be no less fun when properly executed. The idea is to make a standard vodka-cranberry or any other basic mixer that has a light color, and then add a slightly blended lime to the mixture, allowing the bits to remain fairly chunky. This gives the impression that a real frog has been ground up and added to the beverage as an eldritch ingredient. 5. Vampire Kiss MartiniVampire’s Kiss is a delicious concoction made up of vodka, champagne, and Chambord (or any other cherry liqueur). The beauty of this cocktail is that it is tasty and easy to make, as the champagne will bubble enough to mix the ingredients on its own, meaning you can avoid tiresome mixing/shaking. 6. Halloween HypnotistRequiring just three ingredients, this cocktail is simple and effective. A blue liqueur such as Hypnotiq along with some lemon juice and vodka is all you need to take an eerie blue cocktail that will glow under the correct lighting. 7. GhostbusterThe base of this cocktail is a mixture of melon and peach liqueur which combine to make an ectoplasmic green concoction, resembling the plasma of an 80’s science fiction! Adding in a few drops of cream liqueur such as Irish Cream will create a ‘ghost’ that floats around in the base mixture and adding a little extra flavor to this delicious cocktail. 8. Jack-O-LanternNo Halloween can be complete without a jack-o-lantern, and the same goes for your Halloween-themed beverages. Luckily there’s no need to add pumpkin to this recipe, as this is substituted out for a more palatable orange, cognac, and brandy-based mixture which can be pepped up with a little ginger ale. 9. Children of the CornChildren of the Corn is named after the classic Steven King novel of the same name and lives up to its namesake by steeping candy-corn in vodka for later use, adding a unique flavor for you to take advantage of. 10. Swamp Water SurpriseThe key to the swamp water surprise is in the consistency of the drink, which is thick and sludgy. This is achieved by using vodka-infused gelatin, which makes the drink thick without affecting the flavor. The drink will look and taste normal but feel extremely weird to guests. Flavors can be customized as you like but common choices are rum, orange liqueur, and juice. 11. Candy Corn CocktailThis cocktail is great for people who actually enjoy making their own ingredients. The idea is to create a kettle corn-infused gin, ideally Bombay Sapphire as this recipe was conceived specifically for the famous gin brand. This gin-fusion is paired with a DIY citrus grenadine that is also super easy and fun to make. 12. Fright Night in the GroveThis is one for fans of the famous Jagermeister, a liqueur with a strange licorice flavor that is definitely an acquired taste. 13. Skeleton KeyThe skeleton key is sure to open the door to good times using a perfect blend of bourbon, elderflower liqueur, and a combination of lemon juice, ginger beer, and bitters to create a wonderful highball style cocktail that is flavorful and classical. 14. Pumpkin Spice White RussianThis is another fun cocktail that has a lot of showmanship despite being quite simple to make. 15. Bloody MaryThis classic cocktail doesn’t need to be changed very much at all as its macabre inspiration is creepy enough and its deep red color will fit perfectly in a haunted house or vampiric retreat. 16. Les Fleurs du Mal (The Flowers of Evil)This drink has the perfect name to add some panache to your cocktail list. Made using rose petal vodka, lemon juice, egg white, and absinthe, this cocktail is quite simple but looks great especially when served in a white glass. 17. Jekyll and GinThe effect of this gin is excellent and will look awesome in darker venues. The idea is that you garnish this drink with a glowstick to make the cocktail glow lilac in daylight and turn black under a blacklight. The ingredients consist of gin, lemon juice, and grenadine with a large helping of ice. Mix well and top with tonic water – adding a glow stick (or not) for an ethereal visual effect. Keep in mind that tonic water is the key ingredient to achieve the otherworldly color, and getting a tonic that uses a substance called quinine which glows under the right conditions. Broussardâs Restaurant & Courtyard819 Conti St, New Orleans, LA 70112 This next place, Broussardâs Restaurant & Courtyard, is not just one of the best places to go for brunch in New Orleans because of their bottomless mimosas and other drink deals, but because itâs a piece of Nola history, having been established circa 1920. One thing that makes their brunch stand out even more, however, is the fact that their bottomless deal also applies to rose, as well! Montyâs on the Square801 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70116 Montyâs is located across the street from the historical Jackson Square Park and they are one of the first places that come to mind when people ask me where to go for bottomless brunch in Nola. Who Dat Coffee Cafe2401 Burgundy St, New Orleans, LA 70117 Who Dat Coffee Cafe is located in the Marigny neighborhood and they have some of the greatest brunch drink specials that you can get in this city. Tableau616 St Peter, New Orleans, LA 70116 Tableau is an elegant Creole restaurant on the corner of St Peter and Chartres St, right next to Le Petit Theatre and across the street from The Cabildo state museum. The carafes of mimosa are cheap at only $12 here at Tableau, but thatâs not the only great deal youâll find here! Cane and Table1113 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70116 Last, but not least, is Cane & Table, a lively Cuban-inspired restaurant located off of Decatur St right near the Shops of the Colonnade French Market. I really recommend one of their specialty cocktails called âFlor de Oaxacaâ made with hibiscus-infused mezcal, fresh-squeezed citrus, and almond orgeat. This cocktail is so refreshing, and it goes great alongside almost any of their brunch menu items. Bisque: What is It?8/24/2021
Bisque: What is It?
If youâve ever heard of the word bisque, then you might be caused to raise an eyebrow. What exactly is this exotic dish, you might be thinking. Well, the story is a long and complicated one, but weâre here to give you the answers. The wine in this bisque is what gives it its unique flavor, as well as the various ingredients that are contained in it. However, it is not just the ingredients, but it is rather how they are used in the meal. This is what gives this soup itâs amazing texture and taste. This food is known for its thicker consistency, giving you everything that you need for a wonderful velvety texture. The bisque has a long and colorful history, originally made from crustaceans, rice was cooked into it to make the whole situation a lot thicker. These soups were made from quail or pigeon, which was considered a delicacy in France. So what exactly is the meaning of the word bisque? Where does it come from? How has it evolved over the years into the soup that you can find today? What is the difference between this soup and other soups and purees? Can you make one of these soups to impress your friends? Well, if you want answers to these questions and a whole lot more, we would recommend that you read on. Weâll give you the whole potted history of the bisque, along with what goes into making it and how you can achieve that unique flavor. Weâll also settle the age-old question â what is better, bisque or chowder? The History Of Bisque â Food From Around The WorldIf youâre looking to make an authentic recipe around bisque, then youâll need to include crustaceans in there somewhere. Back in the day, a bisque simply suggested a soup that was made from quail and pigeon which was mixed in with fish chunks and other assorted seafood. However, as culinary trends moved on, the term bisque simply became a catch-all term for any kind of pureed soup. It now doesnât depend on the type of ingredients used, you can have many types of bisque, from mushroom to lobster bisque. It will all depend on what kind of ingredients you are adding to it, as well as how you prep it. Now that weâve given you a brief history of the making of bisque, weâre going to take a glance at one of the main rivalries of the soup industry and give you a clear definition of the differences between chowder and bisque. Bisque Or Chowder â Which Is Best? There is a slight difference between these two types of soup, the main one being the consistency and the manner in which it is prepared. Bisque tends to have a thinner and smoother texture, whereas chowder is a little bit more choppy, coming with larger chunks inside. Chowder usually contains more solid ingredients, usually vegetables and large chunks of meat. You can be certain that youâll have everything you need for a filling snack with chowder, although we would recommend that you eat the latter if you want to fix that spot of hunger in your belly. One other slight distinction between chowder and bisque is the fact that chowder does feature bacon as the main ingredient whereas it rarely makes an appearance in bisque. How Can You Bisque A Lobster? This is one of the more popular bisques that you can get in most restaurants. For a lobster bisque, youâll have to make sure that the stock has the right amount of flavor. You can do this by simmering and boiling the shells over a long period of time, giving you everything that you need for a very powerful taste. Once you have removed the cooked meat from the lobster itself, youâll need to roast it in oil and water to get all the flavors from it. Once you have done this, youâll need to be sure that you roast the meat with plenty of flavorsome vegetables and aromatic foods like fennel. Again, this will enhance and enrich the flavors. Once you have done this, youâll need to deglaze your roasting pan, which you can do by adding some creamy and strong-scented cognac. Once you have done this, strain off of the meat and simmer the remaining fluid with some additional bay leaves. This resulting stock will be the foundation of your bisque. Now youâll need to thicken this mixture. This is usually done with rice, although in this instance you can make it nice and viscous by using the meat of the lobster itself. You can also puree some of the lobster meat, which will be very important for thickening. You can choose to save the tail and claw of the lobster for the end of the dish. Our Final SayWe hope that our brief guide to the bisque has helped you to decide what exactly you want from your next thick soup dish. You can choose plenty of ingredients, although youâll have to make sure it attains the desired thickness to fully qualify as a bisque.
